Armley Mills

Recently, Year 5 enjoyed a trip to Armley Mills as part of our thematic learning. During our trip, we learnt all about life for Victorian children in the mills and how difficult it was.

We were lucky enough to see one of the spinning machines operating, which gave us a sense of how noisy and dirty the working conditions for Victorian children would have been.

Our next experience was an afternoon in a Victorian classroom. This was an eye opener for the children, as it was very orderly and strict! Afterwards the children agreed that they definitely preferred life at Lisle Marsden! We all enjoyed dressing up as Victorians and great fun was had by all!
