Anglo-Saxon Artwork
As part of our topic this term we spent a day learning about different types of Anglo- Saxon artefacts such as brooches, shields and runes. The children spent time in each of the Year 3 classrooms learning how to recreate these artefacts using materials.
Runes are the lettering system the Anglo-Saxons used as their alphabet. We wrote our names in runes and etched them into clay plaques.
We also designed and created our own Anglo-Saxon shields after studying the history behind the patterns and shape of the shields.
Finally, we created an Anglo-Saxon brooch and decorated it with jewels and gems. The finished pieces looked fantastic!
