Armistice Day KS1
To mark the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice that signalled the end of the Great War, we took part in lots of Remembrance activities. We spent time finding out about the historical significance of this special event; thinking about poppies as a symbol of remembrance and hope; and creating artwork inspired by the occasion. We shared examples of our work at our Remembrance Assembly which was led by Mr Kinsey.
These are just a few of the things that we did:
- Reception children created photo collages of things that are special to them in their daily lives, and performed a poem that they had written together
- Year One children made poppies out of different materials, and decorated the arbour in the outdoor area
-Year Two children created a frieze inspired by the cascade of poppies at The Tower of London, and painted pointillism poppies
