Children's mental health week 2021
This year, Children's Mental Health Week is taking place on 1-7 February 2021. This year's theme is Express Yourself. Within the academy and at home, we have set the children tasks to express themselves and this will be celebrated with a 'Fun Friday' with all activities set around this year's theme.
Here are just a few of the express yourself activities that the 2D home learners got up to during Children’s Mental Health Week. They made hats to express who they are then explained to each other on Zoom what their hats meant. They made origami dogs, created art work, rode bikes, played board games, baked, danced, sang and simply took time to enjoy being the lovely people that they are.
As part of Children’s Mental Health Awareness week, we held a day dedicated to fun and mental health. We danced, we drew what we loved the most, we even got crafty. We listened to a lovely story called Beautiful Oops, where we learnt about turning mistakes (like a tear in a piece of paper), into something wonderful (like a crocodile). We also created hats that expressed ourselves. We all started with the same template but ended up with different outcomes, as we are all individuals. It was a fun day, which we finished off with cakes, biscuits and a praise worship to celebrate the wonderful work achieved in the week.
