Our summer term is about 'The Normans', and therefore our sparkling start involved designing and making boats in our class. In Science we will be learning about forces and the sparkling start allowed the children to think about the forces involved in making a boat float. The class experimented with different materials to see which would float and which would sink.
The children then made and tested their boats on water; checking to see how much weight they could carry. We had a class competition to see which boat could hold the most passengers and cross the channel. The children put a lot of thought into their designs and enjoyed the activity.
