On Monday, we were treated to something different to our normal learning. We had some Roman visitors from Roman Tours in school to give the children an exciting opportunity to explore what life was like as a Roman soldier.
We spent the morning learning about life as a retired Roman soldier and experienced some of the jobs and duties they had to perform. We were able to touch and hold various artefacts and even played a game with handmade marbles found in a Roman archaeological dig site!
During the afternoon, we spent time learning about life as a Roman soldier in the army. We had the chance to try on some Roman armour and touch the shields and weapons they used. Later, we had fun practising some battle formations and tactics in the hall.
It was a fantastic experience and we can’t wait to carry on our learning next week!
