KS1 Easter Concert
St Augustines

On Thursday 6th April, Reception, Year One and Year Two went to St Augustine’s Church for our annual Easter Service. It is always a lovely occasion, and this year was no exception. Our theme was Crosses around the World. Mr Kinsey welcomed everyone to the service. We had an introduction to crosses by our Reception pupils.

Our Year One and Two classes had studied different type of crosses. Each class made a replica of the one they had studied and gave everyone a brief description of its history and meaning. 1L studied the Rope Cross, 1H the Bangladeshi Cross, 1W the Celtic Cross, 2D the Resurrection Cross, 2L the Costa Rican Cross and 2K linked the Cross to the symbol of New Life to remind us how Jesus Rose again.

Father Edward then told us a lovely story called “The Story of the Three Trees” and lead us in prayer. We sang 3 songs: We have a King Who Rides a Donkey, When I Think About the Cross and Celebrate. The children sang beautifully as usual. It really reinforced the true meaning of Easter for us all.
