Year 5 Maths Challenge

On Thursday 8th March Lisle hosted the first Year 5 Maths Challenge. Eight members of our Year 5 were joined by children from Thrunscoe Primary Academy, Old Clee Academy, Bursar Academy and St Peter’s Primary Academy for a fun-filled afternoon of Maths.

Ten teams took part in three closely fought rounds; everyone was focused on the maths problems. Firstly, the group challenge saw teams working together to earn upto 180 points, a ‘buzz’ of maths chatter filled the hall as everyone was keen to be the first to top the Score Board. Next followed the outdoor orienteering round which saw everyone dashing around to collect clues and solve Bronze, Silver and Gold problems whilst devouring a plate of delicious biscuits! Finally, the Product Triangle challenge; several teams earnt the maximum 50 points by finding the product of 86,400 with their triangles.

At the end of a fantastic afternoon the scores were totalled and the winning team was announced – Lisle Marsden team of Joe, Raef, Kacper and Alex. Well done boys!
