Cenotaph Visit

On Monday 12th November – Year One embarked on our annual visit to the Cenotaph at Nun’s Corner.  When we arrived, it was very busy.  Not only were our Year Two children visiting, but 2 other schools too.  Our children were extremely sensible and respectful whilst we waited.

We were very luck as there was a Veteran in attendance called Tony.  He had a photograph taken with some of our children, and although he had another parade to attend elsewhere, he took the time to speak to them all before he left.    We then placed our Year One ‘wreath’ before taking place in a minute’s silence and prayer.

We walked around the cenotaph, looking at the variety of wreaths and the Poppy cross field, which this year was in a ‘100’ to commemorate the centenary of the ending of the First World War.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many parents and grandparents that supported us on this walk.  We really appreciate your help, and it makes it a much better experience for our children.
