Every year at Lisle Marsden, the youngest three year groups visit the Grimsby Cenotaph as part of our learning about Remembrance Day. This year’s visit was particularly important because it commemorated the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice. Before the visit, we spent time finding out about the historical significance of this special occasion and creating artwork linked to poppies. At the foot of the monument, we added our class tribute to the poppy wreaths that had been laid there the previous day. We were very lucky to meet a Veteran who was visiting at the same time as we were and would like to send our thanks to him for spending some time with us.
