Mysterious Creature

This morning the most incredible thing happened for the children in Year 2. Mrs Leese told us that she had been cleaning the environmental area and something strange and unusual had happened. So we put on our shoes and coats and went to explore outside. Mrs Leese told us that we must be very quiet, as this discovery was something peculiar and new. When we went inside we discovered that a mysterious creature had laid an egg! Not just a standard chicken sized egg but a large, spotty egg on a nest! As we looked around we discovered more and more clues. We noticed that there was the most disgusting looking poo near the egg with worm-like meat inside.

We noticed a foot/claw print on the floor that had only three toes. There was a jelly-like substance near the egg and a flesh type meat surrounding the egg, plus rotten smelling meat near-by. After consultations with the RSPCA we were advised to carefully bring the egg in to keep it warm, as it was likely the mother would not return. As we brought the egg inside, the children heard a scratching coming from inside! Maybe it will hatch soon. Year 2 are now taking responsibility for the egg, making sure that we are cautious around it. We have created ‘caution do not touch ‘ posters to warn others to leave the egg alone so that the creature inside is safe. We wonder what will happen next…
