Mental Health Day 2020
Saturday 10th October is World Mental Health Day. At school, we have been spending time discussing what mental health is, the similarities and differences between Mental and Physical health and how we can improve our mental health. In class, we began by discussing daily feelings and emotions that we all experience such as happiness, worry, anxiousness, joy, confusion and confidence. We then discussed when we feel these different emotions and how different scenarios and situations make us feel.
As a class, we then spent time exploring different mindfulness and relaxing techniques that we can do to help us control our emotions and feelings. We counted our breathing, we imagined we were breathing coloured bubbles, we closed our eyes and imagined our happy place. Finally, we discussed the importance of sharing our problems with somebody we trust, maybe a parent, sibling, teacher, friend or grandparent.
