Visit to the Mosque

Class 3J visited the local mosque as part of their work in RE looking at sacred spaces. The children were given a guided tour of the building including the Wadu area where Muslims wash their hands, feet and faces before prayer, the prayer halls and the Arabic school. Our aim was to be able to compare and contrast this special place with the Christian church. We saw lots of similarities and lots of differences between the two buildings. The children were all fascinated by the different customs and traditions that are adhered to in a mosque, such as removing our shoes before entering the prayer hall. All the children were very respectful throughout the visit with lots of interesting questions asked of our guide.
