The Collection – Lincoln

This week, year 4 travelled to Lincoln to visit The Collection Museum. Throughout the Autumn term we have been studying Ancient Egypt, learning about the earliest Egyptian boats and beliefs, as well as the continents, countries and capital cities of our world. During our visit to The Collection, we spent time designing and creating delicate Egyptian necklaces. We learnt about how Archaeologists dig and excavate to discover objects and remains from our past. We had chance to become mini archaeologists, using specialist tools and equipment to excavate a variety of Egyptian artefacts. We completed a short Archaeology report to explain the artefacts we had discovered and discussed what they might tell us about the past. In the afternoon, we were able to explore the museum’s artefacts, ask lots of questions and learn about the process of Egyptian Mummification.
