World War One
Trenches

As part of our ‘World at War’ study we have been finding out about trench life for the soldiers, identifying everything they experienced during their time during battles.  We have imagined we were at war and have written emotive diary entries about different experiences; seeing a tank for the first time, losing a friend in battle and a final entry as we feared our time was up.

Recently we have used all our knowledge to design and create our own model trenches.  We worked in pairs to use a variety of materials to create our trenches, incorporating key features from WW1 trenches (ladders, firing steps, duckboards, barbed wire etc.).
