This half term we have launched our whole-school courageous advocacy project. We explored the meaning of ‘courageous advocacy’ and learnt about the importance of speaking up with those who cannot do it for themselves. We spent an afternoon thinking about what food poverty is, and how it is a barrier to learning for some children living in our locality, living nationally and living globally. We also linked this to our School Vision.
During the afternoon, we created documentaries and News Reports to ensure we could explain to others the situation some people are living in and to show them there are ways we can help.
As a school, we have set ourselves a challenge to show that we care about others and want to make a difference. By July, we are hoping that, together, we will have taken over a quarter of a million steps:
‘A step in the right direction for every child living in poverty.’
