Yr 5 Residential Trip

For the past few years we have been able to offer approximately 50 places on the Year 5 residential trip to Overstrand Hall in Norfolk.

The Overstand Centre is in the small seaside village of Overstrand which is a couple of miles down the coast from the east coast town of Cromer. The centre overlooks the Royal Cromer Golf Course.

The site is in a secure location and all activities that the children will encounter have been risk assessed.

The activities that the children can experience during the day include:

  • An Afternoon/morning at the beach (whole group visit)
  • Abseiling
  • Climbing
  • Outdoor Laser
  • Jacob’s Ladder
  • Archery
  • Fencing
  • Aeroball
  • Caving
  • Nightline
  • Frisbee Golf
  • orienteering
  • Jungle Vines
  • Problem solving
  • Low ropes
  • Bushcraft
  • High equilibrium
  • Indoor initiatives

The Kingswood Group leaders also provide an exciting range of evening entertainment from singing round a camp fire to spooky night walks and discos/ talent shows.

The children will also keep a daily diary while they are at the centre to record their experiences.

Medical / Food

All members of staff are familiar with First Aid as well as the centre staff (who are all First Aid trained) and will deal with any medical problems should they arise. Each activity station at the centre has appropriate first aid equipment and the centre has links with local doctors and dentists. However, we will of course contact you if a medical problem arises that we are unable to deal with.

The centre caters for thousands of children each year. The standard of food is excellent. The children have a good choice from an interesting and varied menu which changes every day. Vegetarians and special dietary requirements are catered for, portions are generous and the centre staff and teachers will make sure no-one goes hungry!

Booking a place

When your child enters Yr 5 there will be an opportunity for you to find out more by attending a meeting at school. We can discuss any concerns and answer any questions that you may have.

Letters will then be sent out to all Yr 5 pupils to invite them to go on the trip.  Usually, around 50 pupils are interested.  The reply slip and a deposit are then handed in to the office at a given date to secure a place.
