Teaching Assistant with SEND Duties - Permanent
We are a large, high performing, over-subscribed and highly regarded Church of England Primary Academy in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire; founded on distinctively Christian principles and ethos, with a desire to serve the common good. We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated staff team, who is enthusiastic, hardworking, shares our high expectations and will actively contribute to our creative and forward thinking team.
The post will involve working with children with varying levels of special educational needs/disability (SEND) across the Primary age range (4 – 11). Duties would involve delivering interventions, specialized programmes or other support one-to-one and in small groups, in order to promote children’s learning, social skills and general wellbeing.
The post is a full time permanent position of 30 hours per week.
The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a small, dedicated team, under the direction of the SENCO, and also in partnership with staff across the whole school, including class teachers and sometimes liaising with parents.
The post holder will also be required to use initiative, plan and deliver activities and maintain records of pupils’ progress. Some activities will be set programmes provided by outside agencies, therefore the ability to closely follow advice and guidance is also essential. When working with children, a calm, positive approach is expected, in order to encourage growing independence, whilst at the same time clearly establishing and maintaining boundaries.
