Music

Following the change to the curriculum Lisle Marsden have subscribed to the modern, exciting, digital resource -  Charanga Music Scheme. The learning within this scheme is based on listening and appraising, participating in musical activities and singing and performing. This scheme supports all the requirements of the new national curriculum and is in line with published OFSTED guidance.

As well as accessing ‘Charanga’ music lessons, children learn to play a musical instrument when they enter Key Stage 2. In Year 3 pupils learn to play the ukulele and in Year 4 they move onto playing the recorder. In Year 5 the children learn violin and cello and in Year 6 they learn samba. Opportunities are also provided for pupils to further develop their recorder and ukulele skills in extra curricular lessons.

Children get opportunities to take part in in music events such as the local Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Singing Festivals, take part in specialist experiences a such as opera workshops - organised through our partnership with the 'North East Lincs Music Hub' http://www.nelmusichub.org.uk/ and experience music events in school – e.g. Music Live.

The curriculum we offer in school has supported the academy in gaining Arts Mark Gold.
